Childhood Games and Memories

When I was a child, life felt simpler and full of outdoor adventures. I spent most of my afternoons playing marbles with my friends. We drew a circle on the ground and tried to knock each other's marbles out of it using our own. It was both fun and competitive. Another favorite game was hopscotch. We drew boxes on the ground with chalk and hopped on one foot while trying not to lose our balance.

We also enjoyed playing hide and seek, especially when we had a big group. One person had to count with their eyes closed while the others ran to find a hiding spot. The excitement of being found or finding someone else always made us laugh. Swinging at the park or riding the see-saw were also simple pleasures. I remember how high I felt on the swing, like I was flying.

One game we called “Red Cross” was a running and chasing game that involved teamwork. We also loved to blow bubbles and watch them float in the air until they popped. On windy days, we flew kites and paper planes, trying to keep them in the sky for as long as possible. I also enjoyed building sandcastles during family trips to the beach. We used plastic buckets and our hands to shape towers and walls.

Today, many children spend more time on screens and may not know these games. But for us, these activities were a big part of our childhood. They helped us make friends, stay active, and enjoy the outdoors. I feel lucky to have grown up with such joyful and creative pastimes.
