Listening: Family Life Survey Results

Script: 

Good evening! Today we have the results of a survey about family life and chores at home. Many families answered questions about cleaning, cooking, and responsibilities.


First, Kids often play around and leave toys, books, and clothes everywhere in their rooms, but boys are usually messier than girls. Many girls like to tidy up their rooms and organize their things after playing. The survey says that boys are usually the messiest people in the house.


Next, Mothers often prepare meals and wash the dishes, while girls clean the kitchen after dinner and sometimes help with cooking. Some men also help in the kitchen, but women usually spend more time cooking for the family. The survey shows that women usually do most of the work in the kitchen.


The survey also says that men usually take out the garbage. Fathers and older brothers often carry the heavy bags outside or put away the groceries. Finally, women worry the most about family expenses. Many mothers think about food, school, clothes, and paying the bills every month.
